The Governing Body
A message from the chair of Governors
My name is Hussain Shefaar and I feel very privileged to serve as the chair of governors of these two fantastic Islamic Schools. I have been a teacher for more than two decades and understand the needs within the local community.
Governors are volunteers and our main role is to work with the school ensuring that your children receive the best education in a supportive and safe setting. To this end we have three core strategic functions which are;
- Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
- Holding leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils, and the effective and efficient performance management of staff
Overseeing the financial performance of the organisation and making sure its money is well spent.
The governors come from a range of backgrounds and have different skills, but we could not do our job without the expertise of the Headteacher, Leadership Team and all the committed staff at Al Mizan School and London East Academy. I want you all to know that we are a proactive group of governors and always want to ensure we listen and bring about the necessary changes to make both of our schools to be the best in London.
Should you wish to share any thoughts or ideas, please contact myself through the school’s office or email governors@elmschools.co.uk
I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible over the coming year.
Kind regards,
Hussain Shefaar
