Join Our Team as a Volunteer Science Technician!
Leading to a paid permanent position.
Al-Mizan and London East Academy are looking for an enthusiastic volunteer to assist our science teacher and students. Whether you have previous school experience as a science technician or you are looking for opportunities for a teaching assistant type role, then this could be a perfect role for you. Some knowledge of science will be useful.
Role: Volunteer Science Technician
Location: London East Academy
Commitment: Ideally 3 days per week, with flexibility in scheduling either for a morning shift at 8:00 AM or an afternoon shift at around 1:00 PM. We are willing to work around your availability!
Responsibilities:
- Preparation of workshop apparatus/equipment and materials as required.
- Advising and assisting in the preparation of practicals and controlled assessments.
- Maintenance and cleaning of equipment after use.
- Supervise and assist students during lessons when required.
- Prepare risk assessments (guidance and training will be provided)
Requirements:
- A friendly and approachable demeanour.
- Ability to pick up technical skills quickly.
- An interest or qualifications in Physics, Chemistry or Biology.
- Willingness to learn.
No previous experience is necessary, and training will be provided. This role is ideal for retirees, students, or anyone looking to get involved in a school setting and make a difference in their community.
